Horsepower Evangelists
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Tenaciously finding and developing new users.
- Cold calls:
- Signing up new users in a non-invasive way.
- Setting up website demo meetings.
- Cold meetings:
- Traveling to restaurants, farms, farmer’s markets, etc.
- Account management:
- Daily phone meetings with farmers and restaurants to manage posts.
- Event proposals.
- Budget creation.
- Creation of internal documents:
- Human resources, job descriptions, policy and procedures, company culture, etc.
- Contacting media outlets.
- Operations management.
- Developing a marketing calendar.
Skills include:
- Being comfortable approaching and meeting new people/potential users.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Being self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Being a team player and open to others’ ideas.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Experience creating event proposals and budgets.
- Being task-oriented, extremely organized and punctual.
- Experience with Adobe CS a plus.

Horsepower Development Ninjas
Apply Cal Poly’s “learn by doing” philosophy to a project that can change the way we buy, sell and consume food.
Skills include:
- C# or C++

- SQL Server
- JavaScript
- AJAX
- A solid working knowledge of OOP/SOA concepts are a must; WCF is a plus.

Duration
We offer internship classes in line with Cal Poly’s quarter system. Currently, we’re looking for Fall interns.
Compensation
Fall interns who are enrolled in >12 units will be granted a stipend of $500 and will receive class credit. Interns are expected to contribute >180 hours during the quarter to receive full credit. (Hours and credit depend on college/department).
At the end of the internship, the intern and the Horsepower will review the intern’s performance and decide if part- or full-time employment is an option given the needs and resources of Horsepower at that time.
